  • Q. What does APVS do ?
  • A. APVS selects and sponsors the coaching of a limited number of 'APVS Fellows,' i.e. academically meritorious candidates with a serious interest in appearing for the highly competitive Civil Services examination conducted by the Union Public Service Commission of India (UPSC). For this purpose APVS opens application opportunity in May and closes by June end. Then the selection procedure is held in May/June in New Delhi.

  • Q. Who can apply for fellowship at APVS ?
  • A. Any individual eligible under criteria given by UPSC to appear in Civil Service Examination is also eligible to apply for fellowship at APVS.

  • Q. How will selected candidates will be informed about their selection ?
  • A. Selected candidates will be informed through Email sent to their registered Email Id.

  • Q. How much fees or charges are payable for applying for fellowship at APVS ?
  • A. APVS doesn’t charges any fee for applying for assistance programme.

  • Q. Whether APVS provides cash in lieu of facilities not availed?
  • A. APVS doesn’t provide cash in lieu of facilities not availed.

  • Q. Whether APVS Fellows can reside at private accommodation separate from provided by APVS ?
  • A. The APVS Fellows will have to compulsorily live in the accommodation provided by APVS at Delhi.

  • Q. Whether girls and boys hostels are separate ?
  • A. APVS provides separate hostel facilities for girls and boys.

  • Q. What are the charges for facilities provided by APVS viz. Accommodation, Food, Coaching and Mentoring ?
  • A. There are no any charges for the facilities provided by APVS.

  • Q. What are the key factors that are considered in selection process of a candidate ?
  • A. The object of the selection process is to assess the personal suitability of the candidate for a career in public services by a procedure of competent and unbiased observers.

  • 1. Written Test : The test is intended to judge the mental caliber of a candidate. In broad terms this is really an assessment of not only his/her intellectual qualities but also social traits and his/her interest in current affairs. Some of the qualities to be judged are
  • (i) Mental alertness
  • (ii) Critical powers of assimilation
  • (iii) Clear and logical exposition
  • (iv) Balance of judgments
  • (v) Variety and depth of interest,
  • (vi) Ability for social cohesion and leadership,
  • (vii) Intellectual and moral integrity.

  • 2. Group Discussion : Candidates are expected to have taken an intelligent interest not only in their special subjects of academic study but also in the events which are happening around them both within and outside their own state or country as well as in modern currents of thought and in new discoveries which should rouse the curiosity of well educated youth.

  • Whether Arya Samaj considers caste and creed ?
  • A. Arya Samaj does not discriminate for caste, color, creed or area. Arya Samaj considers all human as equal. However, the very scheme of Civil Services Examination paves way for different eligibility criteria for SC, ST, OBC and General categories. Due to this there is huge difference between minimum and maximum age of the candidates falling in these categories.
